Vern usually goes on a walk on Sunday mornings so this
time I though we would go to the place where I go mountain biking.
There are trails for the mountain bikes, motor bikes, ATVs, and hikers.
This mountain is to the Northeast of our house.

Vern, TK, and Mushu climb to the top of the hill at the
beginning of the hike. |
Here is what it looked like unzoomed. |
It was a really windy day. It would have been perfect
out there if there was a little less wind. |
One of the "evil" plants that tore me up when I went mountain
biking out there. These are not too bad as they are small
but painful if you fall on them. |
These bushes were really bad since they are knee to chest high. They crowd the sides of the trail and do a number
on you as you ride by. |
Here is a close up of the flesh rendering thorns. :p |
TK and daddy. |
One of the hills on the "easy" paths. It is a steep
hill with lots of loose rock makes this difficult. |
Another of the cacti of this region. This is just a
baby one. There are some the size of a car. |
Not to many of these, but small and can sneak up on you if
you are not careful. |
TK got tired towards the end of the hike so daddy had to
give him a ride. |
Heading home after a 2-hour hike. |
Here is the trail that I mountain biked. The part we
walked was from the end point to the top of Little Moab, which
is 4.9 miles. |
When Nana and Gung-Gung came to visit we took Nana up the
trails for a 4 mile hike. |
Everyone at the top of Little Moab. Kris was surprised
to hear we got mom to hike this far. :) |
Here is the view from Little Moab. It is hard to tell
but ahead is a very steep slope back to the city. |
This is the Northeast Franklin Mountain's Trail. It is
about 7.3 miles long but in the middle we did a loop to rerun
part of the course. It was a curvy downhill slalom run, it
was a blast to go down. |
Here is a map of the two trails in respect to each other. |
